Children in Classroom

There have been many changes to the way that children are taught in primary schools in recent years.

A National Curriculum was introduced by the Government that detailed what children should learn during their school career. This was followed by the introduction of National Literacy and Numeracy Strategies, aimed at raising standards in reading, writing and mathematics. These initiatives detail what a primary age child should learn, but not how the children should be taught.

Shire Oak, like many innovative schools across the country, has taken full advantage of this freedom to create an exciting curriculum that educates the whole child and equips each one with the skills, knowledge and confidence that will prepare them for future life in the wider world.
